Westview CTE Building – Visibility and Connection

The new and contemporary Westview CTE Building promotes student culture and the education program by supporting collaboration and a dynamic education environment. The design encourages the use of indoor/outdoor spaces, natural daylighting and durable, yet warm materials. Student work areas are interconnected to multi-use classrooms through large glass doors and windows across all classrooms, promoting visual connection and interaction of all students. Classrooms host 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC mills along with other fabrication equipment which will enable Westview’s student body to be successful in emerging fields.

Furthermore, the building integrates into the context of the campus by use of materials and by highlighting student projects on the exterior of the building. Additionally, the covered work area to the south creates a new focal point for the campus and is intended to be used by multiple school programs.

The new 8,000 square foot Robotics and Engineering Career Technical Education (CTE) building at Westview High School is designed to be a state-of-the-art facility, seamlessly integrating flexible maker spaces, cutting-edge labs, and support classrooms, alongside expansive outdoor work areas tailored for robotics testing.

This project encompasses the construction of six meticulously designed classrooms, strategically catering to the burgeoning needs of both Career Technical Education programs as well as the broader spectrum of general education. Among these classrooms, four standard and two oversized spaces have been crafted to accommodate a range of programs, ensuring optimal learning environments for student.

Central to this project is the integration of dynamic maker spaces and labs, fostering creativity and hands-on exploration. These adaptable environments are poised to inspire the next generation of innovators, providing the tools and resources necessary to bring ideas to life. The inclusion of outdoor work areas dedicated to robotics testing underscores a commitment to practical application and real-world problem-solving.
